Novato, Marin County
Olompali State Historic Park, just north of Novato, preserves the site of a large Coast Miwok village occupied for thousands of years. An adobe there, built by a Miwok leader named Camilo Ynitia, was the scene of the only armed clash of the Bear Flag Revolt in 1846. In the 1960s the ranch house was rented for a time by the Grateful Dead.
